Nairablogs - Nigeria’s Free Blogging Platform Lets You Monetize With Google Adsense

Nairablogs is a new blogging platform for Nigerians to create blogs for free. Powered by wordpress.org, this blogging platform allows users to earn revenue using Google adsense. When you create a blog, your domain name will look like this: www.username.nairablogs.com

Currently, there are 93 themes to choose from. The plugin functionality is also enabled where bloggers can activate and deactivate plugins to their respective taste. Right now, there are few plugins as an upgrade to 2.5 is imminent which might cause a sitewide breakage of plugins. The site looks simple, with not much fuss about design.

Although the homepage was created with the focus of having people signup for free to get a blog, on a Nigerian domain name, the plan is to eventually have a wordpress.com-ish community based feel with a sizeable amount of members, where users would be connected to each other in a network of Nigerian blogs.

It would be interesting to see how this Nigerian blogging platform grows and expands in the coming years as the site would be a blog hub for Nigerian content. Besides, the opportunity to earn revenue through Google adsense is a plus for this site’s wide acceptance into Nigeria’s mainstream blogging community.

However, its wide acceptance may take some years, as more Nigerians use Blogger (Blogspot) and Wordpress to create free blogs. On the other hand, having a blog with a Nigerian-feel, I believe, would interest people.

We’ll see…

I had a similar idea I tried implementing on http://nigerianweblogs.net. But I did not have time to market it. Good luck with your endeavours.

African Boy - Thanks for your comment. Your idea for “ihoho” sounds nice…if only you can find photos of Nigerian girls in their natural beauty, it would be a great site to showcase African beauty.
