If you make a Google search of Nigerian dating sites, you’ll probably find 100 or more sites for friendship, dating & love run from either Nigeria, UK, or US. Gone are those days where you’ll find a lot of Nigerians in international dating/friendship sites such as meetic, hi5, etc

I’ve made a list of the leading Nigerian Friendship, Love and Dating sites that are getting average attention on the Internet. I’ve tried to narrow the list to only 10 dating sites; most of them are free, while they also require extra membership fees to enjoy special services.

#1 - meetnigerians.net offers featues such as user created groups, Nigerian music & video playlists, RSS News Reader, send discreet crushmail, 1-2-1 chats, events and a host of other great features to make your experience fun. The site has well over 50, 000 members and gets a reasonable traffic. It was formerly called nigeriandateline.com until recently.

#2 - sexynaija.com is the coolest Nigerian dating site I’ve ever seen in terms of its design and interface. In my opinion, the site speaks more of what a real dating site should look like. Some guys say that there are a lot of beautiful and sexy girls over there. Hmm, wearing bikinis? Go check out for yourself!

#3 - DateANigerian.com is simply ‘where love happens’. From the site’s look, you can tell that the couples are so much in love with themselves. The site features a love meter, video chat, VOIP Phone, Messenger (IMing), Flash games and more. The site’s photos moved me to use one of them on this post;-)

#4 - nigeriansinglesonline.net has features such as powerful matching options, forums, full featured chat, internal mail messaging, friends and hot people list, profile views and winks list, photo gallery, event calendar, etc

#5 - heartkiss.com offers full access to a private chatbox & mailbox where you can write mail, receive mail and even send a virtual kiss to members you like.

#6 - nigeriansconnect.com’s mission is to help strengthen the Nigerian community in the Diaspora and insure that precious Nigerian traditions are carried on for many generations to come by providing a globally accessible community where Nigerian singles interested in meeting, dating or marrying can find friendship or romance, and Nigerians can connect with other Nigerians with common interests for platonic relationships.

#7 - soulmate.onlinenigeria.com helps Nigerian singles find their soulmates in one of the leading social networking sites in Nigeria . The site features forums, advice and gets a reasonable amount of traffic.

#8 - datingcycle.com is pinky. The site focuses on matching singles together who are interested about serious commitments and marriage, not just for friendship or fun. The site has different categories of membership for users to choose from. Membership qualifies you for exclusive services like access to courses, access to members’ database, access to chatting room facilities, access to counselors, getting answers to personal questions in your email box and access to exclusive functions (events) amongst other off-line facilities.

Other Nigerian sites in the dating business have either packed up, or their site don’t have good traffic to stand the pressure of competition. Perhaps they might need some more advertising and great features to attract members.

However, this trend shows that the dating industry in Nigeria is very saturated, which means that people should start thinking of new ways to direct their online businesses.
