BarCampNigeria is Planned for January 2009
This is a quick post to announce that there are ongoing plans to host the 1st BarCamp in Nigeria in January 2009.
BarCampNigeria is an ad-hoc gathering of passionate folks who want to share, interact and spread the love around what they spend their days and nights toiling away on. In participating in a BarCamp, here are some of TheRulesOfBarCamp.
The event planners include: Gbenga Ajayi, Deji Adewunmi, Mayowa Owolabi, Segun Okin, Kenny Orisanaiye, Seun Akinfolarin and Tim Akinbo.
The event needs the following resources:
- Fast broadband Internet connectivity
- Projector(s) and screen(s)
- Power extension boxes
- A/V equipment for live streaming
The event is yet to design a logo, select a date and choose a specific date. (I’ll be providing update about this as the weeks go by, as I hope to be participating in the event)
If you are interested in attending BarCampNigeria, you can join the discussion group on Facebook. The planners have also secured a domain name at www.barcampnigeria.org
In other parts of Africa, BarCamps will be held in Ghana on December 22, 2008.

This is a wonderful move and I want really commend the people behind the BarCampNigeria. Thanks for the info Loy, we’ll look forward to an update from you. You can bet, I hope to be participating in the event, also.
