Naijoo.Tv - Nigerian Version of Yahoo! TV?

If you watch videos from Yahoo! TV, you’re probably going to enjoy Naija’s own video sharing community called Naijoo.Tv, an online video sharing site that allows you to upload, view and share video clips. When I first heard the name, I thought it would look like Yahoo! TV, but far from it.

Naijoo Tv is similar to other video viewing websites such as YouTube, but with several differences. The site features full videos in a variety of categories, including Comedy, Covers, Dance, Hip-Hop, Interviews, Movies, Pop, Programs, R&B, Reggae, Remix, Rock, Traditional (Edo, Yoruba, Ibo), US Hip Hop, US R&B, Worship. Original content is uploaded to the site by independent video creators and the Nigerian community.

You can also suggest videos and add them from other sources such as YouTube, Google Video, MySpace TV, MetaCafe, DailyMotion, Veoh, Current.com, ClipFish.de, MyVideo.de, Break.com and EyeSpot.com

What is Unique?

Naijoo.Tv is the only naija video site that allows people to watch all the videos, comment and suggest videos WITHOUT register. In fact, I tried commenting on a video and I didn’t need to register to do that, unlike other sites around the world.

The negative side to this is that Naijoo Tv’s user membership might be lower than expected, if people simply watch videos, comment and zoom off, although the site currently has over 500 members and over 3000 unique visitors within the last month and more than 11, 000 visits to the site.

My take

I like the concept of a Nigerian version of Yahoo! TV, but perhaps the site needs to stand out from other Nigerian music video sharing sites. One way hey can do this is by featuring videos from campus shows, parties, awards nites, etc and interviews of Nigerian music and movie stars. I think that this feature would attract a lot of attention from entertainment fans all over the world.

What are your thoughts?

Naijoo Tv? Oh my God what have you guys done again this time ehn? Do we always have to copy? Whats the sense in the name NAIJOO? And the logo is not any different either. The very first step yo creating something is creating something. You have to be original the idea is great at least people get to see videos and all but really its not cool copying existing stuf cos that way you have not given people a reason to be a part of it at least not me. The site takes a naijoooooooooooooooo to load too. That means like it takes too much time to load. I will be checking it out on days when nobody esle is on my isp that means days when nobody else is browsing and that means noday at all. Good Luck with the YAHOO of nigeria

I disagree with the comment above me. Naijoo is a very good name, its also quite catchy. I like this site especially because of the lack of pop-ups. They also feature Nigerian movies, and contrary to onlinenigeria.com, you can watch the movies without having to fight pop-ups all the way. Its also a safer alternative to onlinenigeria.com movie wise. I like the look and feel of the site, it is also easy to navigate around the site.
