Chukslist - Post Free Classified and Business Ads in Nigeria

Chukslist.com is a listing website designed specifically for Africa with an initial launch for Nigeria. The site allows users to create a listing of an item they would like to sell, and get contacted by potential buyers. Users can also create a listing with a skill set seeking for a job or real estate.

What are the features?

Like other classifieds sites, users will have to create an account in order to post an item. When you list an item, potential buyers can contact you with the contact information provided at sign up. Users are allowed to upload pictures of listings. The first picture is FREE, but they charge a small fee for additional pictures.

Another feature of chukslist.com allows businesses to create ads on the site. The ads are linked to the websites of the businesses placing the ads. They are currently running free ads for businesses.

What is Unique?

Searching and listing can be done by location, item or university. I think this is cool and unique since it’s a great and quick way to look around your university for a text book or random item you may need. Also, you can put up a listing searching for a specific item and be contacted by someone that has the item.

My thoughts

With so many classified ads sites for Nigeria, I’m wondering if anyone of these could be as successful as Craigslist especially in the African continent. I think Kerawa.com is doing something fantastic in this direction (they have a page for Nigeria here), but I doubt if Chukslist can compete with Kerawa on the African classifieds ads scene.

Back home, they might be able to compete with Nairalist, especially since they run free ads for businesses. But whether or not they are successful depends largely on their user base and traffic on the web. I think to be effective with these classifieds ads thing, there should be a lot of offline marketing to be done.

With Waseet providing classified ads in print (for a small fee), I think that a good strategic marketing effort offline should be able to get more people to use the Internet more to post classified ads for free. If you can post an ad for free on the Internet (even with a photo of your item), why pay for classifieds on Waseet?

Perhaps this deserves a detailed article on success strategies for running an online classifieds ads site. I’ll probably do a write-up on this one very soon, so watch out! And perhaps a comparative analysis of the various classifieds ads sites in Nigeria, like solomonsydelle suggested.

Well, i think this is a good one especially for the buisness oriented individuals in nigeria.i guess its cost less than ads in the magazines.its also a great way of encouraging startups who are scared of ads fees in the papers no matter how little the page space.this could also draw more people to using the internet thus reducing more paper work for advertizing company.

You’ve got to love this industry.

I love the fact that more and more online classifieds are springing up in Nigeria. It only validates the Nigerian online classifieds industry.

I assert that though Kerawa.com is pan-African, it can also do very well in Nigeria. Our increased usage in Nigeria has made us create the shortcut http://ng.kerawa.com, which we hope will help some.

That said, we wish good luck to the other Nigerian classifieds. They are fighting a good fight.

@mambenanje - Sorry about that:-) I’ll fix that one. However, you can also click on the green colored text link - Chuckslist.com

    @Fee - That sounds like a secret cult group’s name:D

I suggest you stick to ng.kewara.com as using @mambenanje suggestion could create more hassles. But hey, don’t take my word - grab that domain name before someone else does.

Kerawa might just become big in Nigeria and you may need it afterall;-)
