WebTrendsNg.com - Keep Track of Web Trends in Nigeria

WebTrendsNg.com is a new web analysis website that allows you to keep tab of happenings on the internet as it relates to Nigeria. The idea is to make understanding and usage of the internet in Nigeria more beneficial for business decision and planning.

The site recently started a survey tagged Nigerian Internet Usage Survey to know how Nigerians use the internet and what they do. The survey relies on a poll to get votes from users on the different categories. While this is a good approach, it might not prove very effective, since there’s no web analysis tool to measure Internet Usage in Nigeria.

However, I think it could help businesses in Nigeria determine where and when they should spend their money on online ads, as Nigerians become more aware of online advertising media platforms.

Startups Nigeria Listed in 100 Best Blogs About Africa

I got an email yesterday that brought to my attention that this blog - Startups Nigeria - was listed in 100 Best Blogs for Learning About Africa in an article by Alisa Miller at BachelorsDegreeOnline.com

The list also featured Emeka Okafor’s Timbuktu Chronicles, Naija Ecash, amongst others. Startups Nigeria is number 81 on the list under the category - Technology and Entrepreneurship.

I thought that was cool and decided to share it here. Thanks to Alisa for the mention. You can find other interesting blogs about Africa too. Go check it out for yourself.

How Letche Blog Plans to Develop Enterprise 2.0 in Nigeria

Here is a very interesting post from Paulette Erijo who blogs at Letche.net,

Emerging African markets are always a target for many high tech companies. In recent times more telecom operators have expanded into countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Kenya, and many more Africa countries. Nigeria has the biggest business environment in Africa. Reports show that the introduction of mobile and wireless technologies has given rise to an increase in the number of internet service users. Most people are becoming more familiar with web services either via their mobile phones or laptops. But how well is Nigeria ready for Enterprise 2.0 ? Letche is set to push Enterprise 2.0 into the Nigeria market. Industries such as Financial Institutions, Telecoms, Sports, Media and Advertisement, Learning Institutions, Oil and Gas, and Consumer Product companies are a few examples of Letche’s target market. Over the years, Nigeria’s response to new technologies goes through a long maturity period.  But lately, the reverse is the case. The drive towards new technologies within the various industries is very welcoming for technology owners. Although Enterprise 2.0 is still young globally, it is not too early for the Nigerian market to start adopting it. Early adopters have many success stories. Companies can engage customers, partners and employees in new ways, and thus facilitate collaboration both within the enterprise and across the internet. We look forward to seeing a good number of companies in Nigeria roll out Enterprise 2.0 in 2009 on our Beezbox Enterprise 2.0 platform.

My Thoughts

My guess is that Enterprise 2.0 in Nigeria will definitely evolve in the next couple of years. In recent times, Nigerians have caught the social networking bug and soon companies in Nigeria will soon see more reasons they should use this new media space to attract new and existing customers. Interestingly, Oz at Mootbox wrote a very interesting piece called Nigeria: Who is Afraid of Enterprise 2.0

It would be interesting to see how Letche intends to develop Enterprise 2.0 in Nigeria and I’m eagerly looking forward to getting involved with this process.

What are your thoughts about Enterprise 2.0 in Nigeria?

Blogging Made Easy Is Out!…You Can Now Order!!!

A few weeks back, I interviewed Dayo Edunjobi, a Nigerian blogger and author of Blogging Made Easy, who shared with us insights into his new ebook on blogging (one of the best materials on blogging in recent times). Finally, Blogging Made Easy has been released to the public.

Just last week, Dayo sent me a review copy of Blogging Made Easy and I decided to take some time off from my online activities over the weekend to read this material. I must say that this ebook is quite impressive as it provides information for different kinds of people, including wannabe bloggers, on and off bloggers, experienced bloggers, personal bloggers, business bloggers and others.

Noteworthy is the fact that the Nigerian blogosphere is bubbling and would soon experience bursts in the next few years, and I think that an ebook on blogging would be generating a lot of buzz in our local blogosphere. Yet, this is just the beginning as I foresee more resources and materials on blogging as it relates to the Nigerian blogging industry in the nearest future. Yeah, you guessed right…I’m currently writing one;-)
